Edyta Ropek will take part at the 2013 World Games


Edyta Ropek, athlete supported by Azoty Group, Five Ten, TOP30 & Entre-Prises, will take part in prestigious World Games, which will take place in late July and early August in Cali, Colombia. Champion of speed climbing is awarded a qualification from the International Federation of Sport Climbing.

World Games, is an non-Olympic sports international event, organized since 1981, year after Summer Olympics, by International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee.

World Games are meant to promote the non-Olymipic disciplines, enabling their inclusion in the Olympic Games. Competition in Cali is one of the last test to show sport climbing to the world, before the 125th IOC Seesion which will take p[lace in September in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here is to decide which of the eight aspiring sports (baseball/softball, karate, squash, wushu, wakeboarding, wrestling, roller sports and sports climbing) will be included in the 2020 Olympic program.

For Edyta it will be the second in her career start in World Games. In 2009, together with Lukasz Swirk, she represented Poland during competition in Kaoshiung, Taiwan. Then Edyta won seventh place. 

I’m very ahppy with this qualification. Enriched by the experience of 2009, I wnt to fight for the best possible result for my country.” – commented the decision of IFSC three times world cup winner. From Polish National Team in Cali will also start Aleksandra Rudzinska.

It should also be noted that Wroclaw city will host World Games in 2017.
