Edyta Ropek's great performance in the World Cup

Satisfied with her performance in the third edition of the World Cup in speed climbing, a competitor supported by Five Ten, TOP30, Entre-Prises, Grupa Azoty and Elzat, Edyta Ropek has just come back to Poland. The inhabitant of Tarnów has returned to the World Cup competition after a break caused by a very serious knee injury. In spite of missing one edition Edyta Ropek takes the 9th place in the World Cup 2013 classification as yet.

Last weekend in Italian Arco, the third edition of the World Cup in speed climbing took place. Injured in April Edyta Ropek joined the competition for the trophy. Her performance in Italy was very good in her opinion, she arrived in Poland happy and highly motivated to fight for points in the next World Cup editions.

In the qualifications Ropek with 9,95 sec took the 8th position getting into the finals easily. In the finals the Pole competed with the Russian climber, Julia Kaplina. Unfortunately, due to timing system failure both athletes had to repeat their run. Finally, the Russian won and Edyta Ropek was 11th.

"I am really happy with the time I reached in the qualifications, especially taking into account the fact that I competed with athletes with no previous or present injuries. Getting into the finals in the 8th position is a real achievement for me. I am satisfied with the run in Arco and with good result" - Edyta Ropek comments on her performance adding - "Time is at my advantage, from week to week I am faster and faster. Ahead of me there are still four editions of the World Cup 2013".

After two editions in which Edyta participated (her injury disqualified her from the second edition in Baku, Azerbaijan) she takes a very high 9th position with 82 points. In the classification a Russian Alina Gajdamakina takes the lead - 217 points, the second is her compatriot Julia Kapalina - 216 points and the third is a Pole Aleksandra Rudzińska - 181 points.

In men's competition in Arco a Czech Libor Hroza won, ahead of a Chinese Qixin Zhong and a Russian Stanislav Kokorin. Women's competition was dominated by Russians: the leader was Alina Gaidamakina, the second was Mariia Krasavina and the third Kseniya Polekhina.

5th WC edition – 11-12 October, Mokpo, South Korea

6 th WC edition– 15-16 October, Haiyang, China

7 th WC edition  – 19-20 October, Wujang, China
